So in the midst of a typically high number of things to gripe about: school, still waiting on books, the boy refuses to be of any help around the house, still a bit stuffy, it turns out I am not entirely jaded and cynical... yet.
This story about the airplane in the Hudson River has this very weird effect on me. The sort of effect that goes beyond making me happy. The perfect combination of factors combined in ways that you don't expect outside of hour long hallmark channel dramas. The pilot turns out to be an expert on airplane safety and crisis management. They just happened to land in a busy waterway, where nearby ferries and passenger boats arrived to pick up stranded passengers. Passengers on said boats immediately handed over coats, scarves, and anything else they could to warm up plane passengers. Emergency responders were quick. Not a life was a lost, the worst injury consisted of two broken legs. I can't help but find this all particularly amazing.
By the way, buy the new Rolling Stone, the fake interview with Bush is awesome.
