So...I've agreed to play guitar for the play I mentioned a few days ago. it's an MTA (Master of Theatre arts) student's final project and will be performed at Victoria University's Studio 77 next month. I'll be working with other musicians again and will be doing the folk thing this time round with a contemporary, comedia del arte spin.
Finished the first draft of the Joe Kum Yung rewrite and will hand it around to a few of my writing friends for some feedback. It's still got a long way to go but with this draft I've tried a lot of different things out and want to see what stirs a response.
Francesca's hens night tonight; it's the first time many of have seen her since she got back. Looking forward to getting tipsy drunk.
Now for the pop portion of this posting:
Last night we had a good thrashing of Singstar 80s. Running Up That Hill! A Little Respect! The Final Countdown! Uptown Girl! Tainted Love! Eye of the Tiger! Oh my god it was tacky and wonderful. Of Eye of the Tiger, young little Justine (who just turned 18) exclaimed: "this should be a sports motivation song", to which everyone else replied in unison: "it is", and proceeded to educate her on Rocky.
Also, Justin Timberlake's comeback single SexyBack, from the album FutureSex/LoveSounds, is a dirty slice of electro pop that is not too dissimilar from Maneater, though hardly surprising as Timbaland produced/co-wrote it, yet again responsible for another of the year's best pop singles. Damn them both. Listening to this song will "have you wet all over" as Annette would say. I have no idea why he's done away with the spacebar though. Maybe he needs a new keyboard.
