Zhang Li Yin (Jang Ri In)
Happy birthday to Chinese kpop artist Zhang Li Yin, who turns 19 today!!
Zhang Li Yin is a young singer from China who comes from a musical family. From a young age she was exposed to music, since her parents were professional violinists, and when she was only three she began to play the violin. At the age of 12 she auditioned for the Xi-Chan Music College’s middle school, and was accepted after earning the top score. However, several years before, she had become interested in pop music, and aspired to become a singer instead of attending the school. Though her parents initially disapproved, they eventually began to support her.
Her first major recognition as a singer came when she participated in the national singing competition in Beijing, where she placed in the top ten. This allowed her to be noticed by Korea’s music company SM Entertainment in 2003, and she became the first and only Chinese solo singer under SM Entertainment. (In Korea, she is known as Jang Ri In.)
In September 2006, after three years of training, she released her debut single in Korea, a Korean cover of the song Timeless by Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini. The single was a collaboration with Xiah Junsu of Dong Bang Shin Ki, and was also released in China with a Mandarin version of the title track. The single was extremely successful, hitting the #1 and #2 spots on the charts on the first day and staying for weeks. The success of this single gained her the title of Best New Solo Artist award at the 2006 MKMF Awards.
Though it has been more than a year with no new releases (except for participation in SM Entertainment’s SM Town albums), she announced that she will be releasing her first Mandarin album in early 2008.

I love this woman. Ever since her first single I’ve fallen in love with her powerful, versatile voice. She has such a HUGE range! It’s amazing. I love it. And all of her songs and excellent. She’s considered to be the Chinese BoA, but in my opinion her voice is better than BoA’s, because it’s more naturally powerful. (I still love BoA very much, though!) So I highly recommend her for all.
Timeless feat. Xiah Junsu (TVXQ)
This song is FREAKING AMAZING. OMG. I don’t care if it’s a cover song of Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini, with Jusnu and Jang Ri In it’s AMAZING. Every time I hear it it moves me beyond words and I want to sing along but I’ll butcher it. Lol. But it seriously is amazing. A SUPERB debut by Li Yin. After this I eagerly awaited all new releases. There are two music videos, both of which tell one story. And it’s so sad, but amazing.

(This is not a music video; just a video with the song. There is no music video for this song.) This song is not as amazing as Timeless of Y but it still has her amazing powerful voice, and it’s also quite pretty. It’s a very nice song for Li Yin that came from the 2006 Winter SM Town album.

(This is no a music video, just a slideshow. There is no music video for this song.) This song is a very beautiful ballad from the OST of the drama Dear My Love. Li Yin’s voice is as amazing as always, and she really gets across some beautiful emotions with this song. I think it’s wonderful.

And FINALLY, Zhang Li Yin’s latest video from her upcoming album, which I will DEFINITELY be buying! This song is so beautiful! And the music video is really sweet until the end and you’re OMF WTF. It turns out there’s a second video. I couldn’t find the song…So I’m going to leave it up to you to find the second the video. xD; But anyway this song is lovely and I HIGHLY recommend it! (The video quality of this PV is really bad. I’m sorry!)
