Long Time No Post

Last week was full of stress. Package weeks usually are, but this one was ramped up by the Friday 5 pm deadline for delivery to the city. So I slacked off on non-work related things. (Translation: I sat around and vegged out to the tv every night) But package was delivered (with 2 minutes to spare I understand). We have another one this week, but I think we're in better shape as it just builds on last week's.

Saturday was opening day for Scarby. It was also meeting day for the guild. I went with my mom and--you might want to sit down for this--W(!) He never wants to go to events like this. Mom speculated that he wants to go do something soon, and wanted to, shall we say, butter her up. Fortunately he decided to go in his own vehicle, so I didn't have to worry about him complaining when he was ready to go, but the rest of us weren't. He lasted all the way through the joust. Momster and I were impressed. Anyway, I made it to Brother's Stage at 3 PM and met Sally for the meeting. And no one else. So we waited and chatted. No one else. Chatted some more. Still no one. Listened to Queen Anne's Lace. Happened to look around just as Christie and Rachel were passing by behind us and called out. They came over and we chatted some more. They said they had been at Reveler's Stage at 2 PM. Turns out that the event as listed on the website was not what Sally and I remembered from officer's emails setting it up. Oops. I should have checked the website listing to make sure. Oh well, we did eventually have 4 members in attendance (and sadly, that almost makes a quorum of our current members). Christie's new gown and doublet were lovely. Rachel was in a very pretty 18th century outfit. Sally was in 'Bethan with matching hat (she wasn't wearing her straw hat!). I defaulted to The Original Stripey Coat.

It's funny, but I had a couple of people tell me that they recognized me (from a distance) only because they saw the coat. I told my mom later that if I ever wear a different one, no one will know who I am.

Urg, I need to replace my boots. They're Minnesota Moccasins, and they have held up well for me. But they are reaching the end of their life cycle. The left one has stretched out and is too loose even when laced as tight as it's construction will allow. That lets my foot slide around when walking. Not all that safe, especially on the rocks at fair. I guess I need to start saving some money for another pair in black.

Today, J-san approached me with an interesting proposition. He is trying to get his photography business off the ground and has offered me a free portrait session in costume. I suggested to him that he could show his event photo chops by photographing the guild's upcoming tea. He said to tell him where and when. So I need to run it by the guild (and the hostesses), but we may get some professional-ish photos of one of our events--for free! Now, we have to agree to be used in his portfolio and shown on his website, but he'll let us have electronic copies (not prints) as compensation. He still wants to photograph me in a portrait situation, too. I call that a win-win situation for me. I asked if he could wait until I finish Timeless Polonaise, and he agreed. (My new time line on that is A-Kon--because if they do have a Steampunk ball the polonaise would be perfect for it)

Aw, dangit! I forgot to get copies of Teh Momster's pictures. >:(
