No reservation (Le Goût de la vie)
September 14th, theaters
I think Love Actually ruined 90% of the upcoming romantic comedies by being so awesome. That said, I always judge romantic comedies on their own scale because they're a guilty pleasure genre, and I don't expect them to be life altering.
Unfortunately, even on a romantic comedy scale, this one was not especially good. It was not painfully bad either, which also exists in this genre but mostly mellow and never really finds its pace between the aunt/niece and the romantic relationships.
But !! there are also things that make it watchable. First, the FOOD PORN *o* I want to cook and eat now, everything looked so good. There's a part with plenty of desserts, my friend and me squealed about it ! YUMMY.
Then, there's the actors. Abigail Breslin, who's great, Catherine Zeta-Jones, who looks so pretty with what seems no effort at all, and my big discovery from last year, Aaron Eckhart, who is fantastic. I find him charming, he's a great actor (I hope you've seen Thank you for smoking) and he has a very sexy voice. I want him to come and cook for me *o*
* * (on a scale from 1 to 5)
Have I mentionned my crush on Aaron Eckhart ?
