I should stop seeing movies about food, I always end up SOOO hungry. And wanting to cook. Actually, I had a pie tonight.
Anyway, it's not-quite-a-rom-com, and it's very endearing. I liked seing the main character, Jenna, grow a little, and the cute and kitch feeling.
The husband is played by Jeremy Sisto, who doesn't look so bad in Six Feet Under (he's Billy Chenowitz) after THAT. What an ass. I was worried about the other guy, the doctor, who I've seen take an eye out of my favorite Buffy character, but this one was adorable enough so I didn't care at all.
Well, I can't really talk about this movie without giiving away most of the plot.
What I liked the most in the movie is that Jenna doesn't want to be a mom, she doesn't love her baby from the second she learns she's pregnant. Unfortunately, the second she sees the baby, she falls in love with her, and that annoyed me. Not too much because it's part of the story : she now has a reason to move her ass out of this marriage, but still, part of me was really disappointed.
I found Jenna a really interesting character. She says herself she doesn't want to be saved, and it's obvious to me. I know she doesn't have any money, but still, she doesn't actively try to get away from the horrible husband. But the construction of the character was very well done around that, and I didn't feel like we should be sorry for her no matter what.
I liked that nothing is black or white in this movie, not even the husband. Who, yes, is an asshole and she should run away. But it seems like he loves her.

I had not heard about this at all when I decided to go this afternoon, and it was a very good surprise. I loved that bittersweet tale of a teenage girl and her manic-depressive father.
The cinematography was also very very good.
The strange thing about this movie is that it's both different and a very unoriginal kind of difference. The theme, the way it's handled, I have already seen it. But I also have already LIKED it, which makes it work. It's fun, and it's sad, and it was a very pleasand watch.
