Why is it that a husband's helpfulness is sometimes enough to make you scream???
This morning I used the phone to drag Eric out of bed to go get Miles (since Quinn and I were already downstairs having breakfast), and the wonderful, helpful husband in him put the diapers into the wash for me. Unfortunately, the high chair cover was already in the machine, having finished it's wash cycle overnight! Now, he tells me that he looked into the machine and that it looked empty. Empty????!!! I can't believe that the entire high chair cover was stuck to the top of the machine. And this isn't the first time that he's learned that he needs to #$$##*$% bend over to look in there! Never mind the fact that we had an entire discussion last night about whether we were going to wash the #$*$% thing in the first place (since washing it would make it unavailable for breakfast time because it has to air dry) so it's not like I just sneaked it in there.
But that wasn't the worst part. I don't think the cover is really supposed to be machine washed, so I always use the gentle cycle with cold water - unlike diapers, which are run through on the hottest, harshest cycle we've got. So the worst part was, in fact, having to run upstairs, stop the machine, and rescue the highchair cover from it's hot bath in poo. YUCK!
In future, Eric has promised not to put diapers in the machine when he's first woken up, even if we've agreed that we're going to wash them first thing in the morning. I've now posted diaper washing instructions on the laundry room cabinet (since he usually manages to forget a setting or two) and the first one is "Make sure the machine is EMPTY!"
UGH! It's difficult to be mad when he was trying to be helpful. But UGH!
