New Year's Drawing
I was reading a lot of my friends' posts and thinking, "Am I in the minority here in thinking that my year 2008 wasn't that bad?" I certainly think last year was better than the year before in many ways, granted I had the leg injury that put me out of the Nutcracker and bummed me out for a month and I got no holiday preparation done. I guess I'm looking at all the doodles I managed to get done and all the fun I had taking my minds off "important" things. Looking at the archive at champloo_doujin community, I can see I did get a lot of translations done in a few months time. So yeah, seems like I did play as hard as I worked. The trip to Japan in spring was nice. Got a better used car than originally planned for and sooner. So yeah... 2008 wasn't too bad. I'm expecting a lot of fun and good things to come my way in 2009. (No, I have absolutely no ground for this reasoning, but I just feel it and am convinced of it.) :D
And here is my first colored pencil drawing of 2009 that started out as the last doodle of 2008, which is for laurabryannan (Thank you for your help and inspiration!) and hidden_gems (I'm looking forward to your version.). And oh yeah, everyone who's given encouraging comments for my doodles during the last 2½ months of 2008, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm totally rediscovering the joy of doodles that I had forgotten for more than a decade. Words cannot express my gratitude.
He reminds me of Hugh Laurie -- must be the beard.
