Three things... First of all, our roof is leaking into our living room, and we don't know who to call or how much it will cost to fix it, and we have no savings. And it is POURING rain, which we need in this area. YIKES
Secondly, My husband and I were commisioned (our quilting business Anchorage Quilting, via Books and Stiches) to create and make a baby quilt wall hanging for a family who just went to China to get their first baby (adoption). I didn't say anything about it until now because I wanted to get it done first. My part is done! WHEW!
It is a wonderful story, and I am so happy to be a tiny part of this little baby's legacy and coming home story. Next Bear will quilt it on the machine (swirls, which I will tell them represents the ocean they had to cross to get her) and then I will add the binding and hand sew it on. It was fun creating it, a little nervewracking too. All we knew was that it was to be 48" square, with four photos (in the corners) and the middle block should have her name and the date they got her.
I chose four pastel colors (pink, blue, yellow and green) as the nursery walls are a light green and the accents in the room have the other colors.
I made it using 8" four-patches--
The green has ivy vines, the blue are little flowers, the pink is tiny flowers and the yellow has butterflies. The photo is blurry intentionally, to preserve anonymity of the commisioners
That was thrilling and SCARRRRRRRRRR-RRRYYYY. But yay, doing the happy dance here, I got it done!
The third thing is the birthday/Christmas present for my best friend. I want to make her a special quilt that represents our friendship, and I'm not sure what to do or how to do it. I can't rest until I know WHAT pattern I want to use. My skills are limited so that makes the choices limited.
