*sigh* What is it about the steampunk aesthetic that's so drool-worthy? Is it the clockwork machinery? The heavy use of intricate goggles and badass boots? The waistcoats and top hats? Or simply the fact that in a steampunk universe, you can be a sky pirate and go on dashing, daring adventures in your shiny dirigible? What ever it is, it's captured my attention recently. That may be the fault of
this book that I'm reading. But since it is providing me with such great pleasure, I thought I would show off some links to some really awesome steampunk things that I have discovered and covet greatly.
Let's start the show.
First up is something that I would never have expected. Somebody made a lovely case to
make their laptop look steampunk. Gorgeous, isn't it? I'd be afraid to use my dear lappy at all if it looked like that.
Next is something that you can do yourself, if you have the patience, and your sports-interested family members don't mind the dismemberment of a baseball.
Here is a video teaching how to make your own steampunk goggles. It says to use silver and black paint, but I plan to use bronze and brown when I get the chance to procure it. Which I keep forgetting to do. Which is why I am not yet the proud owner of some really cool goggles.
No time? No baseballs? I went on amazon, and found the closest pair of goggles to the aesthetic that I could. Turns out, they're
exact replica Quidditch goggles. They even have little golden snitch decorations at the temples. Thus proving that Harry Potter is ultimately applicable in almost any situation.
Now for some boots.
This pair is an object of particular lust for me. They look like the perfect pair of boots for some swashbuckling adventures - a huge step up from the water-stained fake uggs hiding in the back of my closet. Unfortunately, it appears that they are no longer being made or sold anywhere. The Dr. Scholl's website has no mention of them at all. Have checked.
So then I found another pair that is just as awesome, though fairly different. They're even called
plunder boots. I love them. I will have them. ...Once they are available in size 9. Damn it.
Here we have the reason that I would learn how to play guitar. Isn't it the most badass instrument you've ever seen?
Okay, the hyperlink function is failing.
