OMG okay you guys so I took my first set of mock boards this morning and HOLY SHIT I WILL NEVER PASS MY BOARDS NOT EVER OMG I WILL TOIL IN UNEMPLOYMENT WITH A VARIETY OF TRIVIAL ANATOMICAL KNOWLEDGE FOREVER OMG

Oh man, thank you very much for this XDD. I've just read the chapter and was like kind of depressed/anxious/whatever. But this totally made me laugh and feel a little better (and I approve the discussion about Anime!Eyepatch!Roy or Manga!RubySunglasses!Roy and Winry becoming the fucking hero of the story through automails BD).
Yeah, I was just feeling downright anguished last night, and I just... my mind was racing! To think of all the ways Roy could conceivably be left THE SAME NOT MAIMED MY GOD and then I was just like "Well, If I'm gonna fanwank I'm going full throttle" and then this happened, and MAYBE I'm on crack, but I feel good about it. I think fandom all needs a laugh right now, living through this series as it climaxes has been incredibly intense.
YOU FORGOT THAT ROY CAN DO ALCHEMY WITHOUT ARRAYS NOW! HE WILL LEARN TO SENSE AIR CURRENTS AROUND HIM TO KNOW WHERE THINGS ARE, AND WILL BE ABLE TO CREATE FLAME WITH A WAVE OF HIS HANDS, MAKING THE CATALYST FOR THE SPARK FROM THE AIR ITSELF, PROBABLY BY LEARNING TO MANIPULATE THE ATOMIC ENERGY ('cos you know Ed could do it if he really set his mind to it). HE WILL REMAIN THE FLAME ALCHEMIST, HE WILL RULE AMESTRIS, AND HE WILL BE AWESOMER AND MORE BADASS THAN EVER!
...
AND HE AND ED WILL TOTALLY BE MAKING OUT BECAUSE OMG DID YOU SEE ED'S FACEActually, I'm sure the loss of his alchemy- or his aggressive style of fire alchemy in particular- was not coincidental. Yes, I get the 'vision for his country' thing, and I also happen to agree with it. But looking deeper, you can see that what he has done with his fire alchemy- Ishval, and all the people he has killed with it, his torture of Envy- is no longer realistically within his reach. The thing Hawkeye-sensei didn't want him to become, the person Riza had to drive from him at

I'm pleased with the turn of events in the sense of "OH OWCH ARAKAWA I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING" and excited to see how this is going to affect the outcome. I mean, whatever mental pictures I'd had of the climax are blown 100% out of the water, so at this point I'm just along for the ride and trying to remember to keep my eyes open even when I want to close them because it's scary

Yeah, I think your right, I do kinda wish she'd been older. I might have bought it a little better. On the other hand, I really love the concept of Xingian alchemy, and I really sort of wish I knew of the various ways other nations might employ it as well, since it's just never mentioned ever.
OH MAN ROY'S HANDS. I just kept thinking, there is no good place to get stabbed in the hand to avoid breaking a bone. IT JUST SEEMS SO PAINFUL.
THANK YOU FOR ENJOYING IT SO MUCH. The climax of FMA has been intense, especially since we've been living through it the last few months, and frankly, I just needed the break. Everyone is shrieking doom and gloom (because uh... it sure feels that way, don't it?) and I just needed to make myself laugh. Especially because when I woke up this morning, I thought, half-awake and half-serious, MAN I REALLY WISH Winry could do automail eyes! And then I was off...
Look, I won't talk you out of spoilering yourself, because the only thing in my ENTIRE LIFE I've ever been not spoiled for was the last Harry Potter book. I prefer to know spoilers, because I am a fragile soul who needs to know who it is safe to be attached to. (The first time I watched the anime, I wasn't entirely warned for Hughes' death and could not watch another episode for three months. THREE MONTHS.)
Arakawa is one of the few writers on the face of the planet who I trust to - well, not leave her characters in a good place, but I trust her to make me FEEL GOOD about where she's left her characters. I just have to keep reminding myself that we are in the middle of the climax and that I just need to be patient. Which is hard.
YES SEE okay that is my attitude too! Although a big chunk of it is also the fact that I need to prepare myself mentally for such things. I AM JUST A VULNERABLE SOUL IS ALL.
Oh man, Roy and Riza's reunion is going to be epic. And probably sad. But also epic. OH GOD I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH.
