That's a great point about That Person Roy was Not Supposed to Be - honestly, I just keep feeling like Roy has sort of... had his suffering, from Hughes (which was the reason I was pretty sure Riza was gonna live after 100) and I was kind of afraid that this was gonna be overkill, and then I had to remember - honest to god, I never expected him to achieve his goals and become Fuher anyway, so HONESTLY WHAT DID I EXPECT? Roy to basically renounce his goals and buy a house in the suburbs with Riza? (OH WAIT, that was exactly what I wanted...)
However, I'm way thrown by Al checking out from his body - I'd argue that the whole "Self Sacrifice Doesn't Work!" is a pretty strong theme in the manga, and to see Al sacrifice his goal, well, I'm kind of terrified how it'll backfire on him.
OH GOD THIS IS WHY I GET INTO FANDOMS WHEN CANON IS OVER SO THAT I CAN READ SPOILERS.
I'm still upset about how this messes up Rush Valley fic. Should I just finish it like I have it? I sorta had all the majority of the plot points worked out by now...
