I remember that. Even I cried, and I never met the fuzzy little guy. :'( But thank-you for the hugs. It helps a little to know that I'm not going through this alone. I know I'll never stop missing him, just like I'll never stop loving him. I'm just hoping it stops hurting so much soon. I don't think I could ever get another cat though. Merls was too perfect - No one could ever be as awesome as he was. <3
I made the mistake of getting another cat. Although I wouldn't overly consider it a mistake - I got Qwerty in February, mainly because I was still staying up at night, thinking of Bear I don't do that nearly as much anymore since I got her, so she did help me move on. I'm hoping that, because she's not nearly as awesome as Bear, I won't take her death as hard & I'll be able to move on without getting another cat when she's gone.
Unfortunately for her, I already have another cat, Heidi. I got her nearly 4 years ago, as a friend for Merlin. But I've never loved her as I did him. We don't have the same bond by any stretch of the imagination, and she is everything Merlin wasn't, in all the bad ways, and none of the good things that Merlin was. She's stroppy, and moody. She pees on the laundry, claws the carpets and furniture, she begs for food and raids the garbage can. She's greedy and selfish, and has scratched Damien and Merlin more times than I can count. Whereas Merlin never had any of those habits. He was gentle, and patient, loyal and kind, and never lifted a claw to anyone or anything. Not even when a stray tom was beating the crap out of him last summer, and broke his foot and gave him bloody poisoning so bad he nearly died

I lost Puss on 4th July last year, and I agree with everything you have said here. We blew up a recent pic of him and placed it everywhere around the house...And put one in a really pretty frame by the bed... I still kiss it goodnight even 1 year on. I had him 18 years, and when you had a pet for so long, like your Merlin too... They become one of your children and your best friend

I have an absolutely beautiful photo of Merlin that Lee kindly took for me several years ago. It's in really soft colours, and Merlin is just sitting there, looking at the camera with this beautiful look on his face. As soon as I find the perfect frame for it, it will be on display for all to see. It captured him perfectly. But then, Lee always was an amazing photographer

I might not have got a lot of time in to chat, but I always read your posts and updates... I really enjoyed hearing about how you were getting on with your course, and of course about you and Damien :) :) :)
It's really sad about Merlin, my Puss was the most gentlest of cats anyone could ever want also...
And I have to admit also that when I was typing the previous message to you, I did have a little cry too...
Joshua (now 15 1/2!!! gosh that's gone quick!) took a lovely photo of Puss... And it was only on his PSP... I'll see if I can send it to you... Don't know if the pic sending is the same on here as on facebook...
Did you bring Puss to Southend one Christmas? I remember you bringing a cat to Linda's, and between your cat and my Heidi, they ate most of the christmas turkey! XD
Yeah I brought them both down that year. Benny Boy might've been the one scoffing the turkey with your Heidi. Is that the one that had the kittens that Tina was looking after... No, maybe I'm getting confused... I think she had a cat of her own that had the kittens... Might have been a kitten from Heidi's then

It was probably Heidi's kitten Lilly that had the kittens at that point. Though it's hard to be sure completely - Heidi's kittens were born on Christmas day themselves!
Today is the first time I've been alone since Merlin died - My boyfriend has gone back home to Belgium - and right now I don't know what to do with myself. I feel so lost, and several times I've just collapsed on the sofa crying. I just feel so empty.
I'm about to take Damien into the high street to try and take my mind off it, and get him some fresh air. It's not fair on him to be cooped up in here while I'm moping like a teenage emo.
