I'm running home at lunch to pick up the hubby & kidlets so we can early vote at the courthouse today. We've been bad and haven't done it when we could have at the library branch near our house, and as crazy as tomorrow is likely to be, I can't see me having time to stand in line and vote. As nasty as the campaigns have been this year, I want to go in JUST to vote against the worst of the mudslingers.
One ad in particular makes me want to go shake the candidate til his teeth rattle. He's running for Attorney General, and his mudslinging radio ad involves two Redneck Stereotypes bashing gays (and his opponent for supposedly being pro-civil union). *sighs* The joys of living in Arkansas. I'd vote for a telephone pole rather than this guy.
We're voting for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, city mayor, and our Congressional Rep here. The only clean race (or at least I've missed the mudslinging in it) has been the mayorial one. All of the others have gotten nasty, and the Republican ads have been EXTREMELY anti-gay, pro-religion... I'm registered as an independant but I'll be going Democratic this year. It just makes me sad... the best candidate we had for Governor passed away from a blood disorder earlier this year. Now that would have been a Republican worth voting for - a statesman, not a politician.
Anyway, not much else to report. We had a lazy weekend. Played Morrowind, visited the boys' Gigi and had pizza, and watched the Razorback game. I detested the Gamecocks just-this-side-of-legal playing, but the Hogs really ticked me off by the stupid way they ended the game. Ahead by 6 points, they took a knee for their entire last four downs to run down the clock, despite being WELL within touchdown or field goal range. Makes that fantastic catch by Monk to get them in that range wasted... Bah.
