pickyeater's reply about Discovery Health to my last LJ entry reminded me of an interesting Carolyn observation.
A while back, we were kind of grossly mesmerized by a show on Discovery Health wherein a woman had a tumor removed that weighed more than she (well, the rest of her) did -- something on the order of 150 or 200 pounds of tumor. The surgeons had to come up with special techniques just to plan for its separation so it didn't pull the woman off the table and such.
Then it shows the woman's husband, and Carolyn looked at me and said "I want to know the backstory here. I figured maybe this woman lived alone and was in denial and avoided going. But she's MARRIED. Honey, if I ever have a tumor, and it weighs more than TWO POUNDS, you knock my ass out and drag me to the doctor whether I want to go or not. In fact, if I have ANY tumor and won't go, do that, even if it's the size of a pea. mmkay?"
