Lovely day

Slow start; wait in sun for bus; nice long lunch with BF untainted by having-to-rush-back-to-meetings (and finally found a place that does proper egg noodle soup/dry); belated and unexpected birfday present (picture frames to encourage printing of photos, and most peculiar dessert item); dozy afternoon reading history of MI5 under cafe gas heater; dinner with hubby which turned into extended dessert with 2BF and family who happened to be in the same suburb; finally found an edition of Eloise for my very own.

*And*, finally, stumbled across that Scots sci-fi novel I saw last year, wanted, didn't buy in trade-size, then completely forgot the title of. Not a Stross after all - MacBride, Halfhead. Very much looking forward to that XD

Bought Mum a nice lightweight sharp utility knife - all hers are huge, heavy, blunt or ineffective and not good for her not-working-hands. She may well hate it, but it's worth a try... can't go round for Mother's Day though - bad flu :(

* Bizarre dessert item: a wibbly-wobby block of jelly - sorry, *cube* of jelly, it says here - that apparently you dissolve in hot water (to turn into lots-more-jelly, presumably). BF found it at the Brit sweet shop at the Gold Coast and bought it because the brand was hubby's last name & she thought we'd find that funny. Wish we'd thought ahead, I'd have asked her to get him some Kendall Mint Cake! (he'll do anything for that or yer genuine Polo Mint...)

It's WEIRD with a capital everything. *poke poke* It never occurred to me that jelly mix could come as anything other than powder. Looking forward to seeing What It Does, and what the Regional Difference between that and an Aussie brand is (sweeter? fruitier? different texture or look?).

friends, books, mum, food, family
