I cannot fucking believe this. My report came in yesterday, and Dad talked to me about it just now. Oh, wait, allow me to reiterate; yelled at me for it

It's not uncommon for us healthy teenagers *cough, cough* to have problems with their parents and family. There was a period, and trust me it was a damn long period, when I would have at least one argument (i.e. screaming match with tears and whatnot) with my parents each week.
I don't have any siblings, so I can't really say that I had similar experiences like yours, but there were times when my parents would use my friends as examples to judge me against. They didn't mean any harm, and they were not harsh at all, but I already felt really crappy. I think I can imagine how much worse it would be to be compared to your own brother. And I don't really know your relationship with you brother, but I don't think you should be angry with him for this (you are piss off at him, to some degree), unless he's a bastard.
Your results were brilliant. Don't worry. It's not as if I got such good results when I was back in your year You're a talented person, who should be recognised for your efforts. If you

Well, now that I am more or less calm [or rather, calmer], it's really quite comforting to read this. And it really does make me feel a lot better. It doesn't change the facts, of course, but it means that I know what to do now :)
I'm not so much pissed at my brother, as he's always been there for me. It's my parents that make it seem that way. My brother and I are very close, so there's not much of an issue there.
Your welcome, gaki. (yes, I'm labeling you as a guy, 'cause I don't know the female equivalent of it. XD) Glad to know that you're feeling better. Your lucky to have such a nice brother!!! ^____^
I experience the same thing at home. Everyone expects me to do SOOO well because of my siblings. But I just tell them that I'm me, and nothing can change that.
I think those results are good, I got really bad for my exams! Look, relax, alright? Maybe you need to talk to them or something.
O_O;; Ummm...I'm the oldest sibling, but my parents compare my grades to my brother, rather than the other way around. And dude, my dad is cool, but he is damn fussy about grades, to the point he used to give me nightmares
Yeah, I know. I love my dad and all, but he'g big on grades, which is really annoying. It's like I can never get high enough grades for him! I mean, get over it, you know?
And that hardly counts. It's not your fault that Nikhil is boy genius at thirteen. :D
Your brother sounds exactly like mine. He does have a knack for languages, but apparently his French Teacher hated him and insisted he was terrible at languages [hence why he hates the language so much]. Next year he was top of the grade for Japanese

brilliant older siblings are nothing more than a pain in the butt...i mean, come on, we all LOVE our older siblings and the thing is we're almost all always getting compared to them.
i'm lucky in that i don't get ragged on for report grades (5Bs are fine, and tell them the most intelligent girl in grade eleven told you that. they mean you're doing ok. personally i HATE them because they're such 'easy' grades, teachers give 5Bs to everybody when they don't want to concentrate on giving grades...but they're fine. if you're appalling you'll know.) i just get ragged on for everything else.
and believe me, like jita said, older siblings are infinitely more tolerable than parents at the best of times.
HAH. I wish I could say that, but somehow that wouldn't really wash. :D I know what you mean about the 5B thing. I feel that's the case myself. I did actually try telling them that, but their reply was that 'you can't be an average student'. I see where they're coming from, now that my head's a hell of a lot clearer, but I mean, they could have been just a tad nicer?
The report said it was the first 5-6 weeks ;o) They did them over half term, anyway.
