It's alive.

I finally have internet service back on at my house, so I hope to be updating a little more frequently. Maybe not, as I am in full swing of trying to sort and make order of my new house and yard. I still have things upstairs, but after torturing my back for two weeks trying to do all this shit myself, I really don't care right now. My new tenant really doesn't seem to mind that I still have shit up there, good thing I found a friend to move in. I need to round up another group of people to help get the last few items of furniture and storage bins downstairs sometime soon, though. I've been missing my cozy couch and being able to sit down at a table when I eat.

I've started to tackle the yard. I started referring to my lawn as my amber waves of grain it was so long. Of course, by the time it stopped raining on a day that I actually had off and could attempt to mow the yard, it was so long that I had to mow that shit twice in order to actually get it cut and not have clumps of grass still poking up. Gah. I also learned that when you are exposing yourself to sun for the first time in a while, and you're a fairly pale girl, you really should invest in some serious sun block. I made a special trip to Walgreens this morning to buy SPF 50 sun block and some aloe gel to help the nice burn I got yesterday along. Fortunately, when ever I do get sunburn, by the next day it is usually faded and doesn't hurt very much.

I also just started removing all of the rock that was put in a small flower bed that is next to the house off my patio. I've decided that was the first flower bed to tackle and plan on putting a kitchen garden there. Lots of lovely herbs, a few tomato plants, and hopefully some climbing flowers to make my cute little brick patio cozy.

Speaking of the patio, I finally have completed my quest in finding a patio set so I can hang out and have my coffee in the morning. I found a gorgeous bistro table and chairs at Pier 1 on Friday...and on sale, too! It's this great painted wrought iron set that is in this antique french style that is very adorable. I think since we were able to drag it home last week, I've spent more time out there than I have inside the house.

I'm off to buy some new dirt and some nice herbs and plants for the flowerbed. I'll post some pictures when I finish.
