Plant & Yard Happiness

What an amazing evening tonight! The weather's perfect, especially after yesterdays weather, and I'm crossing my fingers that it will keep up like this for the next few days. Since the weathers started getting hot, I've really started to neglect my yard (besides watering things) and I'm itching to be out here again working on projects.

On my way home from the grocery store tonight, I saw that the nursery I pass by had all of their plants 50% off. Of course I had to stop and get some more plants for my yard! Tonight I drug more plants home for my new shade garden and two more hydrangeas bushes to replace the ugly arborvitae in my front yard. Here is the list of things that are waiting to go in the ground:

2 Limelight Hydrangeas
2 Anna Bell Hydrangeas

Shade Garden Plants
2 Hostas 'Golden Tiara'
2 Hostas 'Undulata Albomarginata'
2 Hostas 'Patriot'
3 Foamflowers
3 Coral Bells 'Plum Pudding'

I am happy with the variety of types of plants I found for mostly shady areas and I think they will all look really beautiful together once it's all done. The only plants that I know for sure that I want to add to this area that I haven't gotten yet are some super tall, lush ferns.

I'm even more excited that I will be able to finally put these plants into the ground within a week to two weeks. My mom gave me the name of one of her customers that does tree trimming/removal and he was out on Monday to do an estimate for me. He's a lot cheaper than the first company I had do an estimate, as well as being a helluva lot more friendly and interesting. He seemed like a really nice guy and I enjoyed talking with him. He apparently works alone and instead of using a cherry picker, climbs the trees to trim and takes the trees down that are being removed from the top down. He really seemed to care about making my yard look beautiful and about the trees themselves. He will be trimming and removing (2 dead, 6 growing too close to the house and one arborvitae that I just plain hate because 1. They're ugly and 2. They were never meant to be grown next to a house and be taller than that two story house.) a total of 29 trees for me!

I happened to mention to him while we were walking around the yard that the next project I'm tackling in my yard is removing all of the landscaping rock next to my driveway that was dumped there from other yard projects. Apparently he told my mom that he was also going to throw in removing that for me as well as part of the cost he quoted me for the trees. I did a little dance of joy when she told me that. Imagine all of the to-do items I'll be able to cross off my list after he's been here!

If anyone needs the name of a tree trimer/landscaper, let me know! If I still think he's as amazing as he sounds when the job is complete, I'll pass on his name/number.
