The story takes place in psuedo-ancient China, so go ahead, use that language as you will, despite the characters' fluency in Japanese everywhere else. Excellent discovery of the day: JapaneseVerbConjugator.com exists.

Disappointment of the day: it does not contain crazy Japanese slang conjugations. (Possibly because the Japanese apparently make them up as they feel like it, rather like lyrics to the banana-nana-fo-fana song, and with no regard for their international audience.)

Huh. There's a specific kanji phrase for hotel charges (宿代). I don't know why that surprises me, but it does.

If I never have to see another handwritten kanji scribbled in the corner of a speech bubble, it will be too soon.
