New Saddle, Proper Setup...Ahhhh

Feb 19, 2007 14:17

We were supposed to go to Brattonsville this Saturday, but frankly it was just too darn cold (and windy) to be enjoyable. So we decided to do some riding at the barn. This worked out well for me, as it afforded a chance to focus on getting my new saddle properly configured to support my big caboose. Getting the stirrups right made a HUGE difference in my comfort level in the saddle.

Freckles was great Saturday. The wind had her a little frisky, but we had a really great time in the ring. She was very responsive and I could definitely feel a greater sense of confidence as a rider being in a saddle that fit me properly.

Just prior to the ride, I informed Paige that I was no longer going to be able to lease Freckles. I let that sink in before I told her that we plan on buying her. That made Paige smile, and Nat & I as well.

I'm buying a horse. How in the hell did that happen?

Who cares. Life is good right now. I can't wait for it to warm up some so I can enjoy riding her even more.

weekend, horses
