This has to be one of the most beautiful sites we've worked on so far in the valley.
The property owner told us that this particular drainage has never had running water so late in the season, in the 8 years she's been there. All of the local mountains still have snow, so I'm hopeful the creek will run well into our field season out here. This property is set well back in a little desert canyon. I can't wait to get started.
We're taking the students out for the first time this Saturday. It's supposed to rain but I doubt that will stop us. We've held off for a month due to (the unusually late) rains. We've spent the indoor time talking to them about field archaeology. Richard has given them more details than I ever had before my first field class. Lynn gave a cool presentation on rock art (which it would not be surprising to find out there, incidentally). They're all talked-up and instructed-up - now it's time to get out there!
It's been warm all week - a little rain shouldn't hinder our survey. It might even be helpful for finding certain things...
