O Глобальном Потеплении.

Все собирался написать о Глобальном Потеплении - все откладывал. Раздражает меня эта "наука" неимоверно. Это просто феноменальная история, если вдуматься.

A few references for those who might be interested in the solar activity cycles & their effect on climate (perhaps Arbat has in mind the high [est. to be 30%] probability of having the Maunder minimum in the next 100 years)

We are due for the next one (they occur, on avergae, once in 440 years); during the previous minimum people were skating on the Thames whole winter. A nontrivial effect of the last Maunder minimum on the history of science is discussed here.

BTW, human induced global warming has not started yesterday; we've already sabotaged a mild glaciation episode 8 kya at the onset of agriculture (according to Ruddiman's climate theory, see http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn4464, or his Sci American paper ayear ago). Another fact worth pondering is that the current global temperatures are the lowest since the emergence of animals. The last time such low temperatures had occured, the glaciation cycle ran away and the entire planet froze solid, with the mean global temperatures plummeting to -50oC. That's what happens when there is no global warming. Hyperactive land plants have been fossilizing carbon for a very long time permanently removing CO2 from the atmosphere; we are restoring the balance. We are saving the planet!!!
