just open the door and you will see

Omg, I watched this movie last night. Possession.

Cos I wandered into the not-so-new thriller section and hallo, there were all these intriguing movies I'd never heard of. And this was Sarah Michelle Gellar with what could be a cool plot.

And Lee Pace was in it. I never remember who he is until they put Pushing Daisies after his name and then it takes me a moment to go "oh yeah, that guy." But jesus, it's been so long since I've watched it that I forget how ludicrously tall he is. And next to SMG? It's almost loltastic.

But holy mother fucking god, he is SO HOT in it for the first half an hour or so. He quite literally made my insides go all funny and convulsy. Cos he's all unshaven and tattoooooooooed and barechested. Barechested! There's this one shot where he's lounging against the doorjamb, half in shadow, and these loose cargo trousers are nearly falling off his hips, and he's just so looooong and holy god, chest. And have I mentioned tattoos? There's a tattoo on his nape. Mother of god, I think I'm going to have to put that tattoo in a novel just so I can have someone do viciously sexy things to it. Guh.

He's all dark and menacing, almost always in shadow, and actually quite frightening but god, because it's Lee Pace, I didn't really take the bad boy character seriously. Until he backhanded some girl across the face and my god, I flinched so badly I shocked myself. He just did it so casually, even I didn't see it coming. Yeah, I would have totally fucked his character, Roman, except for the woman-hitting.

The movie was kinda good. Not brilliant. More of the 'I know what's really happening here, just waiting to see if I'm proved right' ilk. And man, I've missed SMG. I didn't realise how long it's been since I've seen her prickly little face. Then to see that little pout and frown, oh the wave of nostalgia that came over me. And I do try so hard to separate actors from their roles. But sigh.

And haha, there was one scene which was pretty fucking awesome in terms of pop culture. Cigarette Smoking Man in the same room as Buffy in the same room as Lee Pace who was in Pushing Daisies which, to my mind, was desperately trying to be Buffy with its quirky dialogue.

I did watch the whole film, feel a bit of regret at being proven right, a bit of regret for what could have been --- oh fic ... fic where she accepts it and goes with it because she's just as dark and fucked up as him, and because really the other guy was much creepier, because his violence matches her coldness, oh wait, no that's Buffy --- and then went back to watch that first totally hot half hour. And actually I might watch it again just for the sex scene. It was that hot. Kinda like Timothy Olyphant and Jennifer Garner in Catch And Release. God, I adore that film.

Why yes, this would be a total slavering excuse for a post.

Seriously though? It was shot in the most delicious atmosphere. All this gorgeous fog wreathing San Francisco, totally reinvented a city so familiar to me from movies, had this fabulous use of light and shadow, rich shades, soooo much darkness, rather impressive use of rain. Absolutely wonderful cinematogaphy. Judging from the closing credits, though, I wouldn't be surprised at all to find it's adapted from some Korean or Japanese film.

And hey, wasn't Michael Landes in Lois And Clark way back when, playing Jimmy Olsen? Or was that Michael Landon?

I really don't want to watch Killshot. Why oh why did I rent it out? Why now?
