question on PhDs in neuro/cognitive science

Hi everyone,

I recently completed a masters here in the Philippines with strong concentration on the social sciences. It's an interdisciplinary program (MA in Philippine Studies, major in Society and Culture). My undergrad degree is Literature. Having said that, I'm interested in applying for a PhD in Neuroscience or Cognitive Science.

I have been working on (urban) spaces since I was an undergrad. I deconstructed billboards as panoptic devices (for my BA thesis), and for my MA thesis I studied monuments and their role in nation-building; personal and collective memory.

I think I'm ready to understand the science of spaces this time. Having studied it socio-historically, I want to see how the brain processes such information; how we create spaces (and vice versa). Topographic memory is my current research interest. I have also published several works on urban spaces in academic journals here.

What are my chances of getting into a good neuroscience program, having little to no background in the sciences? I am very much interested in applying cognitive/neuro science to the Humanities and Social Sciences, particularly in urban culture. I am more than willing to study the basics of neuroanatomy, and I know that this will be 10x work than if I enroll in some other program like Visual Culture (what I wanted initially). I also understand that people like Sam Harris (philosopher/writer) did their PhDs in Neuroscience (he did it in UCLA, one of the schools I'm interested in applying to).

One last thing: I was recently diagnosed with complex partial seizure disorder, which only heightened my interest in neuroscience. Can anyone givve me any advice on this? Thanks a lot.
