I met with my former major adviser today, and as we were discussing the process of applying to grad school, she brought up Courtauld Institute of Art. To be honest, if their M.A. is viewed favorably in the US and I could expect to be able to go on to Ph.D. studies at an American university, this option would be attractive to me. The only issue is that I've tried to stay away from M.A. programs in the US because of two factors: I know I want to earn a Ph.D., and funding is considerably less available for M.A. programs than Ph.D. programs. I would really prefer not to incur much more debt if possible. Does anyone have experience with funding a 2-year degree abroad? I know that the FAFSA still counts, but there's no way that would totally cover my costs. Does anyone happen to know anything else about the reputation that programs like Courtauld's have in the US?
