I've been out of school for three years, and some of things I've been involved in since have been political: volunteering with individual candidates' campaigns and working with a local LGBT advocacy group. There are applications where I may need to provide an attached CV, and these activities have had a lot to do with the development of my interest in rhetoric and propaganda, but I'm wary of including them.
Has this been an issue for anyone else? I'm applying to programs in English with an intended focus in gender and sexuality, so the fact that I've been known to turn up at a gay rights protest would hardly be shocking, but I do not wish to seem to be shoving my politics in admissions committees' faces, or shoving anything flat-out extraneous in their faces, for that matter.
