David Eddings has died.

The world of fantasy literature has lost another of its modern giants. Much like my reaction when I learned of Robert Jordan's death, this deeply saddens me.

Ever since I finished reading the last book in Michelle West's The Sundered quartet, I have not been able to stop thinking about it. I read the first two books in the series... nine, ten years ago?... and didn't get around to tracking down the other two because they'd gone out of print, so thank God for reissues or I would probably never have found ( Read more... )

The plane will be soaring through space and time and I'll be wondering who is the last of the Oceanic Six? the whole damn flight across the world. (If it is Michael it will be anticlimactic. I wish they hadn't announced Harold Perrineau was coming back or put his name in the credits. The reveal could have been, you know, ACTUALLY SHOCKING.)

The Eye of the World was one of the first fantasy books I ever read. I think I was 13, and for some reason I remember the sequence where Rand al'Thor and his friends flee the Two Rivers more clearly than I remember ( Read more... )
