New detective on the block

John Munch was not having a good day.

One minute he and Fin had been on one side of the perp's door, guns drawn just in case. When they didn't receive an answer from inside, the two men slammed into the door with their shoulders to force it open.

The next minute Munch found himself falling, but not to the floor. The fall was much longer than a normal five-foot fall should have been. He had closed his eyes instinctively, so he couldn't really see whether he was falling past anything; however if a white rabbit or a cat with a maniacal grin on its face showed up, he wouldn't have been surprised.

And then he landed.

Hard.

"Son of a bitch," Munch cursed, rubbing at his shoulder as he sat up. "Fin, you-"

That's when Munch realized that he was alone, and that he wasn't in the perp's apartment anymore. From the looks of things, he wasn't even in New York. Slowly he took in the gray sky and barren wasteland of abandoned buildings around him. In the distance, he could see what looked like a wall up around an apartment complex, one that didn't quite fit in with the architecture of the rest of the area.

A wall that was obviously supposed to be a barrier or fortification of some sort. Which meant that there were people on the other side.

Munch started walking.
