Will got the wagon completely repaired today. It's been re-inspected (and officially passed) and vacuumed. We have an appointment to have it evaluated for trade-in on Friday morning and, if all goes well, we'll be able to drive our new-to-us car home afterwards. Yay!

Today's achievements were mostly small, involving minor-but-necessary tasks around the house, making phone calls, etc. I ran nearly 5K for the first time this year; didn't quite make it because my joints started really hurting, but it was close. I also made crock-pot lasagna for the first time - turned out great! Will likes the traditional one a little better, but this was easier to assemble and has the advantage of being slow-cooked; no need to be home for the hour before cooking, and won't heat up the kitchen if you want lasagna during warmer months. Smelled fantastic, and the girls loved it.

Really, the one constant annoyance was a fairly standard one in this household: Two just never shuts up. Ever. And by dinnertime, I just had to get away from the nonstop chatter before I went insane. Otherwise, a fairly usual day with usual array of highs and lows and parental challenges. I did, at least, get to make my own breakfast. :P Oh! And as a genuine high point, I watched this clip of Susan Boyle. If you haven't seen it yet, you really MUST. You'll come away with the biggest smile.

In closing, a frivolous meme, courtesy of piperki:

1. When you looked at yourself in the mirror today, what was the first thing you thought?
I needed to brush my hair.

2. How much cash do you have on you?
About $15

3. What’s a word that rhymes with DOOR?
More.

4. Favorite planet?
Saturn - I was always fascinated by the rings. Next favorite: Uranus, crude jokes notwithstanding. It’s tipped over!

5. Who is the 4th person on your missed call list on your cell phone?
No clue. The reason I have “missed calls” is I ignore them on purpose. On my cell, I don’t answer a number I don’t recognize.

6. What is your favorite ring tone on your phone?
I don’t have a custom ringtone. I like the idea but am leery of giving my phone number out to ringtone websites.

7. What shirt are you wearing?
Cheap t-shirt from Hawaii with row of blue plumeria across the chest.

8. Do you label yourself?
Worst mum in the world? :P

9. Name the brand of the shoes you’re currently wearing? Socks, having (thankfully) just divested myself of my New Balance sneakers/trainers.

10. Bright or Dark Room?
Depends on the time of day and what I’m doing. I generally prefer semi-bright light.

11. What do you think about the person who took this survey before you?
She doesn’t give herself enough credit. And she has weird ideas about ironing and shoes. ;-)

12. What does your watch look like?
Brown leather strap, Mickey-Mouse face.

13. What were you doing at midnight last night?
Thankfully sleeping.

14. What did your last text message you received on your cell say?
*thinks* Probably something about how TKD went for the girls.

15. Where is your nearest 7-11?
I know there used to be one about a mile from here, but since I don’t drive in that direction much, I don’t know if it’s still there.

16. What's a word that you say a lot?
Not right now.

17. Who told you he/she loved you last?
Probably one of the girls.

18. Last furry thing you touched?
Cassie.

19. How many drugs have you done in the last three days?
One OTC (Tylenol), two prescription pills, two prescription topical medications.

20. How many rolls of film do you need developed? None. Not even digital - just got some pics printed for my dad.

21. Favorite age you have been so far?
25ish, maybe? I hated my job, but I was done with school, living in my own apartment, spending time with my best friends, and enjoying life overall.

22. Your worst enemy?
Myself - isn’t that always the way?

23. What is your current desktop picture?
Some Mac wallpaper of a purple nebula or something. On the not-currently-functional laptop, it’s an image of Little Bridges music hall from my alma mater.

24. What was the last thing you said to someone?
Prodding Two, who was goofily mismatching her socks, to fold them right.

25. If you had to choose between a million bucks or to be able to fly what would it be?
Hmmm. Million bucks seems more immediately practical, but if being able to fly, personally, meant I could skip airline travel, that might be worth having.

26. Do you like someone?
I like lots of friends, and I love my family, including spouse.

27. The last song you listened to?
Something on the Wiggles CD Two picked from the library. :P

28. What time of day were you born?
About 9pm. I was genuinely worried, when we went to the DMV the morning of my 16th birthday, that they wouldn’t give me a driver’s license since I wasn’t *officially* 16 yet. :D

29. What’s your favorite number?
47

30. Where did you live in 1987?
Bay Area, Mom’s house.

31. Are you jealous of anyone?
I have several friends who seem to posses a great deal more wisdom and serenity than I.

32. Is anyone jealous of you?
The person who plagiarized me today?

33. Where were you when 9/11 happened?
At home, moderating my FanForum board. Will called and told me to turn on the TV. The second plane had just crashed into the towers.

34. What do you do when vending machines steal your money?
Find someone to notify, in hopes of getting my money back.

35. Do you consider yourself kind?
I try to be.

36. If you had to get a tattoo, where would it be?
Someplace where I could cover it up without difficulty, if I chose. (Although piperki does raise an interesting point: if I’m being forced to get a tattoo, would I have any say in the location?)

37. If you could be fluent in any other language, what would it be?
Spanish and Chinese seem the most practical in the US, but if I could regain (and improve upon) my German or Russian fluency, that would be great, too.

38. Would you move for the person you loved?
If it was truly the best choice for us to move.

39. Are you touchy feely?
With people I’m comfortable with.

40. What’s your life motto?
Don’t really have one. Can you think of one for me?

41. Name three things that you have on you at all times?
Wedding rings, neckchain w/ multiple pendants, hair.

42. What’s your favourite town/city?
Salzburg, London, Tahoe City, San Francisco, Washington DC, Kapaa. Anyplace I can explore with Will.

43. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?
Photo prints and on-sale Easter grass.

44. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper and mailed it?
Correspondence with old friends of my grandparents. Which reminds me - I owe them another letter.

45. Can you change the oil on a car?
It’s been ages since I last did it myself (as opposed to having Will do it), but I could probably manage somehow if pressed.

46. Your first love: what is the last thing you heard about him/her?
That he and all his household had a mild cold. (Just spoke with him tonight.)

47. How far back do you know about your ancestry?
Four generations on my mother’s side, two on my father’s side.

48. The last time you dressed fancy, what did you wear and why did you dress fancy?
What constitutes “fancy”? I last wore something truly formal on a cruise ship in 1991. (Turquoise taffeta, somewhat shorter than tea-length.) I wore a nice slim/drapey dress to sing at Christmas Eve in 2006 (the irony being, I had lost so much weight, the dress fit again :P). I’ve dressed up to somewhat lesser degrees for funerals, church, holiday gatherings, etc.

49. Does anything hurt on your body right now?
Not if I don’t move. If I do move: my left knee and right hip. The usual “My joints don’t like it when I run” complaints. Also, mild sinus pain.

50. Have you been burned by love?
I’ve been burned by people who were convinced they loved me when I didn’t feel the same.

Does anyone else feel cheated by spring so far? Things are starting to bloom in earnest, but the weather has continued to be largely unseasonably chilly, which means it hardly feels like spring at all. We had moments of sleet today, for pete's sake. I feel like spring - my favorite season - is going to pass me by before I get a chance to really enjoy it.
