Dear Yuletide Author

Hi! I'm plumeria47 on AO3, generally known as "Plu" in the fandom world. Or I was, way back when I was a more active participant. :P Let me start off by saying this is my first year participating in Yuletide and I have no idea what I'm doing, despite the plentiful posts on Yuletide's LJ/Admin LJ. Going to try my best, though. It looks like this is the place I add more information to my requests? Er, well, that's the impression I got. So, here goes.

Elfquest: (Characters: Any) This was my first real fandom, sort of - it was the first thing I was really "into" as a teenager, although I didn't know anything about fanfiction and, anyway, it was the '80s. (Yes, I'm old.) But, anyway, these books, especially the original stories through "Kings of the Broken Wheel". I'm happy to read about any of the main characters in the Wolfrider or Sunfolk tribes. I'm not as interested in the Blue Mountain elves or the Go-Backs, although it's not like I'd hate a story that included them - maybe just not as the main focus. I love the concepts of Recognition, soul names and sending/speaking mind-to-mind, but you are not required to include those. I also love Skywise and would be interested in his backstory, or in a story from his POV. Again - not required, if you feel the spirit is moving you in another direction. My only real request is to stay in the two tribes I prefer, for the main focus. I'm fine with smut, a total lack thereof, het, slash, gen, whatever.

Valdemar: (Characters: Any) I love the whole gosh-darn Valdemar-verse, pretty much, although the tagset limits you to Companions or Vanyel-era characters. But that's fine with me. My only request is that it has a happy or at least a hopeful ending, especially if Vanyel is involved. His life is full of enough sadness as it is. No Companion smut, but human smut is fine, if you feel so inclined. (Lack of smut is fine, too.)

Maurice: (Characters: Anne Durham, Clive Durham) While I would probably be fine with "any", I find myself really wanting to know what Clive thought of Anne, and his life with her. Did he convince himself he was fine with it? (Is he bisexual and thus *actually* fine with it?) Did he have any regrets about his choice to live "normally"? I know I didn't specify "Maurice" among the characters, but that was mostly because I didn't want it to seem like I wanted to focus solely on the relationship they had. Still, if you feel like including what Clive thought of Maurice's choice, or whether he thought back on his time with Maurice at all, while focusing on Clive's present relationship with Anne, that would be interesting. You don't need to address all these issues at once, but hopefully they'll provide a good jumping-off point for you. The usual drill: smut, lack thereof, or anything in between is fine.

Whyborne and Griffin: (Characters: any) I chose "any" because I'd be fine with something G/W shippy, or something that focuses more specifically on Christine, or a combination thereof. Would like to see the boys gain a little confidence in the solidity of their relationship, if you choose to focus on them. If you choose Christine, would be interested in her backstory, and/or her perspective on G/W (either together or singly). Whether you include anything supernatural is up to you.

Phantom Tollbooth: (Characters: King Azaz and the Mathemagician) I'd love to see more of the brothers' relationship. What were they like as young boys? Young men? Were they able to get past their many years of arguing, once the book ended? When they were alone in their kingdoms, what did they really think of each other? Pick one of these and see where it takes you. :) No incest. (I'm not against consensual incest under the right circumstances, but not for these two.)

In general: For romantic relationships I'm a sucker for things involving hands (the first hand-holding, or brushing your fingers against some part of the other person, finger sucking, etc), being turned on without being able to do anything about it, hot urgent sex, and (conversely), lots of foreplay. I am very tired of kisses/mouths being described as having fifty different interesting flavors, unless it directly relates to something the person JUST ate or drank; likewise, someone smelling of seemingly-romantic-but-unlikely things, unless they just showered or rolled around in a field of lavender (or whatever). "Biting hard enough to draw blood" under any circumstances drives me bananas because I don't think people realize just how hard you'd have to bite to do that! Actually, I'm not a big fan of biting during sex in general. I confess to being rather vanilla in my smut tastes, if you end up writing smut; oral jobs, hand jobs, penetrative sex of any nature - all fine, and I'm not against someone being tied up or held down during consensual sex, but I'm not into non-con, really rough sex, serious bondage, watersports, pain, humiliation, etc. I'm not fond of infidelity (although open relationships are different).

For any fic: no drugs or being completely pissed drunk (mild-moderate drunkenness is ok), and prefer no smoking unless it's appropriate for the era/character. No character bashing. I like humor, missing scenes, backstories, letter-fic, romance-without-being-cloyingly-sweet, friendship, first- or third-person POV, past or present tense, happy or - at least - hopeful endings, and I'm probably missing a bunch of other stuff I should be saying. Feel free to leave an anonymous comment if you have a question.

Did I do that right?

yuletide, fic request
