When I was your age, I walked in snow up to my armpits, uphill - both ways....

So, the storm track must've shifted overnight, because by morning the forecast was 5-8"/12.5-20cm. It snowed more heavily in the morning than the afternoon, but in the end, we actually got the higher forecast amount, for once: 7.5-8"ish. Given that they hadn't plowed our residential area yet and I saw a van being dug out (after getting stuck) three houses down, I'm not very optimistic about there being school tomorrow, even though the weather itself is supposed to be fine. At best I'm hoping for a 2-hour delay, but I'm not counting on it. What's even better is that we're in for ANOTHER storm Tues night into Wed morning, currently forecasting another 4-8" of snow, with a crust of ice on top at the end. So, the odds of school on Wed is pretty low. We'll see if they manage to get to school by Thurs. :P Already they've rescheduled the middle-school All-City Band concert from Wed to Fri, probably anticipating poor weather and lack of rehearsal time on Tues/Wed.

The above-freezing weather over the weekend meant that a LOT of the remaining old snow was finally melting off. And now everything is covered again, sigh. Most of the snow this season has been fairly fluffy, so the kids were happy to finally have dense, clingy snow - good for snow forts, snowballs and snowmen. They didn't go out to play until late afternoon, however, because MiniPlu was recovering from what appeared to be a mild stomach bug.

Last night, just as I was thinking of going to bed around 10:30p, MiniPlu came downstairs complaining of wooziness and nausea. She's a weird kid - nausea makes her feel like she can't breathe (nausea panic? no idea) so she was gasping like a fish at first, but it also makes it hard to decide whether she has a bug or is just having a panic attack. Certainly there's a lot of stress in her life right now - she was supposed to have 3 tests today, one of which we hadn't gotten around to reviewing, she has drama every night this month, pretty much, and is worried about getting homework done, and there's Girl Drama with her friends. But I think in this case, she might have had an actual bug.

So, anyway, I was sitting with her, getting her some ice to help with wooziness (I find ice in a washcloth/paper towel on my face and neck helps) and just talking calmly with her. Nothing bad happened, nausea-wise (phew!), but she still felt pretty cruddy for awhile. Eventually she decided to settle on the sofa, and I sat with her there at the other end, keeping her company. She ended up dozing off for awhile, but I didn't feel like it would be nice to just ditch her and go to bed, so I stayed where I was, watching TV, playing Bookworm (badly), until she woke at 2am and decided she felt a bit better and would go to bed. At which point I wrote an explanatory note to Will and then went straight to bed without even brushing my teeth, and collapsed.

So, it was just as well there wasn't any school today. :P At least this way I could sleep in (not counting the snow day auto-call at 5am), and finally hauled myself out of bed at 9am. Will had gotten up super-early for work, needing to be in early today, only to have the college close, as well. MiniPlu didn't rouse until 11a (she must've been awake a bit before that but that's when she texted me from upstairs and asked me to come up); she was feeling better, thank goodness. Not all the way better, but over the course of the day, with quiet time on the sofa, and a slowly increasing amount of gentle foods, she returned to being functional enough that she could enjoy playing out in the snow for awhile before she wore out again. She complained again of feeling unwell at bedtime, but I haven't heard a peep since then, so I'm hoping it was just anxiety and association with feeling unwell last night, and not a relapse.

I've been Clorox-wiping remotes, faucets, lightswitches - mild or not, I still don't want anyone else coming down with it. :P

We also watched last night's Sherlock 3.3 after dinner tonight. (WHY IS EVERY SEASON OVER SO QUICKLY?) I have a lot of things I want to say about it, and some about 3.2 since I never really commented on that, but it'll have to wait. I'm thinking I should try to get to bed before midnight, for once, especially after last night.
