Drabble: Intervention

Rating: Uh, PG? PG13? Somewhere along that, I think.

Pairing: Doumeki --> Watanuki

Words: 456 (is this still a drabble with this word count? :P)

Notes: Because I had to write something cheerful after the last few chapters if I didn’t want to get depressed... and because eucharis42 on deviantart promised me a picture of ( ( Read more... )

drabble, xxxholic, watanuki, doumeki

It was mostly the tobacco smell that threw him off, because it reminded him of his grandfather, and, well, no matter how much he’d loved his grandfather, that wasn’t a mental image he wanted to have next to a half-naked Watanuki.

OH MY GOD, HAHAHAHA. POOR DOUMEKI, WATANUKI IS SUBCONSCIOUSLY COCKBLOCKING.

Are you certain it's only "subconsciously"? Remember, much as he's calmed down lately, this is still Watanuki we're talking about... and Watanuki would do anything to rain on Doumeki's parade. :P

That's true...pffft, poor Doumeki! That's even worse!

Sad, but that's life for ya. XD

Come to think of it, my Doumeki seems to be hopelessly in love with Watanuki, no matter what... and even rather pervy inside his own head (well, not pervy per sé, just healthily hyper aware of things as any male teenager usually is :P). Poor guy with a crush. *pats pats*

LOL

From that description, your Doumeki seems pretty canon.

Well, since we never hear his thoughts and only see his reactions, that's open to interpretation... but that's the way I see him, at least. :P

(though now that I think about, he wouldn't be a teenager after the time-skip, would he? He'd be around twenty-one or twenty-two now... well, same difference. Young male adults can be every bit as pervy as teenagers, only with the self-confidence to do something about it now. :P)

It seems very in keeping with his personality, though. He just seems to be the type that's exactly as you described him.

(Oh, oh, I don't want to think about Doumeki being self-confident to do anything, because I don't like thinking about what experience that self-confidence might be stemming from. But you're right, he's not a teenager in the time skip anymore).

That's a huge compliment for a fanfic writer, you know. ^___^
These days, I feel I can channel Doumeki better than Watanuki, and considering he was once the hardest for me to understand, that says a lot about Watanuki's current state... there was something hinted in the last chapter of TRC, but not enough for me to make sense of this whole Yuuko-ish thing he has going now. I guess we'll have to wait for the epilogue to find out more... only three days now...

(Oh, I don't know. Lots of things can give you self-confidence, not only the ones you wouldn't want to think of him doing... getting into a good university alone would boost anybody's self-confidence, particularly in highly-competitive Japan)

I didn't think of that until you mentioned it, but it is. And it's very true :)

Yeah, that does say a lot. I just don't get Watanuki anymore, and I've completely lost graps of what the hell is going on in TRC and xxxHolic. What did Syaoran and Watanuki pay to get out of their dream-prison-thing? Oh, wow! The epilogue? *crosses fingers* Doumeki will totally throw the egg.

(Mmm, that's true. Confidence is confidence, it's not like it stays in one area. Confidence gained from school can definitely be used to ask someone out and all that.)

And when the heck did they give him back his glasses? He saw both Syaorans when that happened, but one of them clearly disappeared and we haven't seen them give him his glasses back yet... or did I miss something? And what the heck happened to the black Mokona's earring? He didn't have it anymore after the time-skip, although he clearly had it immediately before, even after Watanuki decided to inherit the shop ( ... )

Clamp isn't known for their consistency though, are they? Pretty art, weird body structure, convoluted plots, and angst, sure. So, Mokona's earrings and Watanuki's glasses -- what's up with them? Clamp probably won't say.

Hmm...good point. I like the comparison to the murderer.
...the fact that he didn't seem to be aware of anything or anyone unrelated to the shop (to the point where he didn't even know which year he was in in highschool) may have been an act of kindness on Yuuko's part. That way he wouldn't have as many things to miss once he wasn't able to leave the shop anymore. Kind of depressing, but I believe you're right.

Eh, no, they actually have a tendency to explain every single frigging thing even if they need to write ridiculously long epilogues to manage it (whether their explanations make any sense is another thing altogether...)

So it's either in TRC's epilogue or as a flashback in whatever is left of xxxholic (it will apparently keep running until December, at least), I'm confident that we will find out what happened/will happen to Mokona's earring, That Darn Egg and Watanuki's glasses.

Hmm....my n00bish Clamp ways are obvious, then. Makes sense, I suppose, since TRC & 'Holic are the only two I know.

Good, that's very good. I'd be very upset if some of the things they keep repeatedly mentioning are never explained.

N00bish CLAMP skills are good. It's harder to be a hardened CLAMP fan; nothing ever surprises me anymore. ^^UUU

(You should really go read Wish... it's cute, sweet, and it has a happy ending -though you have to waddle through a bit of angst to get there- and it's even short! It's only four or five volumes long. Plus the main character sort of looks like a grown-up Doumeki, soooo...)

LOL Nothing surprises you, eh? XD Somehow, I am not surprised that Clamp has desensitized you to things.

(Which one is Wish? Is that the one with the angel or whatever?)

anyjen October 5 2009, 03:30:51 UTC
Yep, Wish is the one with the angel. He may be a bit too cute after reading xxxholic, but where there are angels, you can bet there will be demons... and the ones in Wish are simply scrumptious. *___*
