Drabble: Intervention
Rating: Uh, PG? PG13? Somewhere along that, I think.
Pairing: Doumeki --> Watanuki
Words: 456 (is this still a drabble with this word count? :P)
Notes: Because I had to write something cheerful after the last few chapters if I didn’t want to get depressed... and because

Watanuki kinda implied that the price he paid was for his extended lifetime to be able to wait for Yuuko, but my guess is that he also included the whole "coming back to reality" thing in the package. He did pay with his freedom and any chance he could have had of a normal life, after all... and since the beginning, that seemed to be his goal when he wished he wouldn't see ayakashi any more. That's a huge price to pay. The only person we've seen condemned to such a destiny had committed murder.
Seen under that light, the fact that he didn't seem to be aware of anything or anyone unrelated to the shop (to the point where he didn't even know which year he was in in highschool) may have been an act of kindness on Yuuko's part. That way he wouldn't have as many things to miss once he wasn't able to leave the shop anymore.

Hmm...good point. I like the comparison to the murderer.

So it's either in TRC's epilogue or as a flashback in whatever is left of xxxholic (it will apparently keep running until December, at least), I'm confident that we will find out what happened/will happen to Mokona's earring, That Darn Egg and Watanuki's glasses.

Good, that's very good. I'd be very upset if some of the things they keep repeatedly mentioning are never explained.

(You should really go read Wish... it's cute, sweet, and it has a happy ending -though you have to waddle through a bit of angst to get there- and it's even short! It's only four or five volumes long. Plus the main character sort of looks like a grown-up Doumeki, soooo...)

(Which one is Wish? Is that the one with the angel or whatever?)
