In the distance, Donna could hear screaming. Who it was, she wasn't sure. All she knew is that she was stuck in darkness. No, not darkness. She felt as though she were burning. She was stuck in fire. Fire that burned, but didn't burn. Fire that was hot, and cold. Fire, that consumed her whole, took hold of her body, took control of her body and refused to let her go. Fire, but not fire.
She heard her name. Spoke in hushed tones, and growing louder, and louder. To far away to be recognized, but she knew who it was. It had to be him. Who else was there? No one else knew her name. They just called her 'madame'. There were no times for introductions, yet.
Still louder the voice grew. So loud that her head started to ache.
The fire started to ease from around her finally, allowing her name to pull her out from the darkness she was held captive in.
Slowly, Donna was able to open her eyes. When she was finally able to focus, she was met with the worried, yet relieved face of the Doctor.
"Why so loud?" she asked him, in a near whisper.
"You scared me," the Doctor helped Donna to her feet. "What happened?"
"I don't know," she looked at the Doctor, then noticed a very scared looking little boy peaking out from behind the Doctor.
"Are you okay, sweetheart?" she asked the little boy, who did his best to hide behind the Doctor and hang off of his jacket.
"That's my Donna," the Doctor said to some people that had gathered around them, "always thinking of other."
He pulled out his sonic screwdriver and started to scan Donna with it. She smacked his hand holding the screwdriver away.
"Stop it," she hissed at him.
"Donna, people don't pass out for no reason," the Doctor started to try to convince her to allow him to exam her.
Glaring at him, she said, "I don't need you to use a screwdriver to "examine" me!"
Sighing, the Doctor gave into her, "Fine."
Donna looked around at all the people that had gathered in the small hut they were in and blushed with slight embarrassment.
"Madame," one of the humanoids, dressed in a very posh looking dressing gown, bowed before her. "We have not been introduced. I am Rek'Ta, and these are my people." He motioned to everyone around them, lingering in the small room.
"You're people?" she asked.
The Doctor leaned forward to whisper in her ear, "He's their leader. Kind of like a king, only, he views himself as an equal to them."
"Oh," she said, then stuck a hand out to Rek'Ta in greeting, "it's nice to meet you, and your people."
Rek'Ta was about to take her hand when the little boy that was hiding behind the Doctor ran out screaming,"NO! SHE HAS THE EVIL! THE EVIL IS INSIDE HER!" and forcefully moved Red'Ta's hand away from Donna.
Confused, and hurt by being called evil, Donna looked at the Doctor, who looked at her in just as much confusion.
"Young one!" A middle aged looking woman stepped up to the boy, "That is no way to speak to our valuable guests. You apologize to the 'Madame' at once." The woman demanded.
The boy now had tears in his eyes tried to rebuttal, "But..."
None of the adults around were having no excuses for him being outright rude though. Rek'Ta bent down to the boys level and said, "It was quiet rude for you to do that. You do need to apologize for your rudeness."
"Yes, my senior," the little boy nodded, and looked at Donna. "I'm sorry that I was rude to you, Madame."
Donna didn't know what to say, so she just nodded at the little boy.
"Perhaps," Rek'Ta stated, "we should go to my estate where we may talk in a more private setting."
"I think that's a good idea," the Doctor stated wearily.
Rek'Ta stated to everyone else in the room, "Let us part this hut. This family should grieve in peace."
Rek'Ta turned and bowed before a young lady laying in a bed, who had obviously passed very recently, before leaving the hut. Each person took their turn to do the same as they left. After everyone else left, the Doctor, and Donna bowed before the body as well. Before leaving, Donna kneeled before the little boy, and will so much sorrow, told him, "I am so sorry, sweetheart."
The little boy quivered his lip, and then ran to a much older woman sitting beside the bed and cried into her lap.
Donna looked at them and didn't know what else to say, so she just said, "I'm sorry."
The Doctor held Donna's hand as they left the small home. "Donna, who was she?"
"She was his mother," she answered, as her voice cracked and the tears fell from her eye. The Doctor stopped them walking for a moment, and brought out a handkerchief from his pocket and dabbed her cheeks dry again before they continued to follow the crowd.

The Doctor slowly broke the connection from Donna again. She was crying, and he wanted to give her a brief brake, so he took out a handkerchief from his pocket, the same one he had used previously on her tears for the little boy, and dried the tears that fell.
"That one wasn't to bad," he stated and pocketed the handkerchief. "But it's only going to get worse. I'm so, so sorry for this."
Checking her stats. Her heart rate increased slightly, but was slowing back to normal.
The Doctor connected to Donna one more, "Please forgive me for this, Donna."
