[Rule One of all Pokemon universes - everything can be solved by having monsters beat on one another.

This is no exception even when you happen to be one of the said monsters, as Mewtwo well knows - and that is why, upon discovering the wonderful thing called the battle dome, he doesn't waste a moment entering and taking a look around. Evil ( Read more... )

[Someone else happens to be just leaving a simulation.]

[Kriz is heading up to the viewing area himself with a towel and a nice cold sports drink. ...Huh, Mewtwo's here. Was he fighting or just watching?]

...Hello again.

Hff

[sup, man. A nod in your direction.

The bottlecap stops bouncing and rolls to a halt.]

[Kriz nods back. He'll sit down next to Mewtwo, watching that bottlecap as he does.]

Were you fighting or merely watching?

[There's an audible BIFF of air and the bottlecap goes flying, striking a vending machine hard enough to leave a small dent and crumpling the cap itself. Mewtwo has one hand slightly raised.

Fighting, apparently.]

[Since Mewtwo's in the viewing area he might notice an unarmed redhead wander into the area below, a program coming to life as he approaches the center. The program's scenario is an elaborately decorated white room, with a crowd of silver-clad knights enters from an opposing door. Asch's goal is to make it through the entire group - stealing a sword in the process - and defeating them all; it's programmed to reset when he's given a "fatal" wound.

He does alright for the most part, especially considering the numbers he's up against, but he can't seem to beat the scenario down to the last man. It's very frustrating, and he's starting to show it.]

I saw the event notice and was like "...but being a spoon would ruin the Plans D:" lmfao antlioncyclone January 24 2011, 23:58:31 UTC
[That's quite the battlefield. Quite the challenge, too.

Mewtwo watches the simulation, mostly out of curiosity - he's seen humans fight before, but not to the extent that some here in Luceti do, and never with any sort of "weapon". It's interesting to watch how they fare in combat, without instinctual skills...and limited to physical attacks, apparently.]

[Limited, yes- at least until aforementioned humans bring out the big guns. As the battles progress and Asch seems to be making very little headway, he switches tactics, adding artes to his repertoire- namely, spells that summon lightning, fireballs, and icicles from above, or shards of rock from below. They seem to do the job well enough, though they wear him out faster than the sword.]

[...hold on, hold on. Since when could humans do that kind of thing?

This just got a lot more interesting. Those attacks are similar to one's he's familiar with, but different in ways, and they're obviously costing the human effort-]

[Well, in the viewing area he's bound to catch sight of a certain red-headed fellow walking into one of the chambers. The simulation quickly comes to life, which reveals a coliseum. Adell's in the main ring, and as the simulation winds up...

Waves of demonic monsters and demonic humanoids come rushing from the gates. Admittedly, the demonic humanoids look much closer to human than demon, but their red eyes and pointed ears generally give them away.

It's a very simple setup. Adell versus waves of monsters and enemies. Despite constantly being outnumbered, he fights his way through theses battles tenaciously, using his bare hands. Gouts of flame erupt from him occasionally as his attacks land, but for the most part, he's fighting utterly unarmed. And winning.]

[...Wow. That's new.

He could be using some sort of...human equivalent to Mega Punch, though, since humans just aren't that powerful, right? Or could this be chalked down to world differences?

Mewtwo is watching this one intently.]

[As the waves wear on, the monsters stop being small things like orcs and medium sized things like the lightning-blasting warslugs to much bigger things.

Instead, more powerful looking humanoids pour out, along with much bigger monsters, like the scythe-wielding Reapers, dragons and their undead counterparts, and in the last waves, the mighty Rifle Demon.

Adell's tactics in battle become more advanced, and his enemies begin blasting out very special attacks. Reapers shot forms of dark magic at him, while Dragons belched out flame and their undead counterparts shot blasts of shadow from their mouths. Rifle Demons favored close combat, but would often send out purple laser blasts from the cannons on their arms.

There's a hell of a light show going down there. ...And he's still winning, chipping away at his foes, despite the massive numbers against him.]

[This is Very Cool (if Very Weird - coming from a world where your stock-standard duck carries a leeksword, that is weird as crap) and Mewtwo is duly impressed. Not being a physical fighter himself is a factor - the idea of having only your limbs to rely on is foreign enough to be fascinating.

He wonders idly what a fight against this particular human would be like.]

[Well, surely, at some point, Mewtwo is bound to notice a very familiar trainer entering a chamber, and letting out his three Pokémon. The simulation soon starts up, and another 'person' appears opposite of Gold, appearing to be a trainer. But it's not just any trainer, oh no. Today, Gold's chosen as his opponent none other than... Red?!

It's a younger Red, though, at about age 14, but still Red nonetheless.]

[The battle quickly starts off, the chamber taking on the form of a Pokémon stadium, complete with cheering crowd! 'Red' leads off with his Snorlax, while Gold starts off with a classic, good ol' Politaro!]

[...The crowd is a bit much, Gold. Real champions don't need spectators >8U

On one hand, it's a small and agile Pokemon versus one with less mobility. On the other, Red of all people would be able to turn this situation around without breaking a sweat.

Going back to the first hand, this isn't really Red - it's just a simulation of him, and no virtual trainer could ever match up to the real article.

This should be interesting anyways.]
