Yesterday I was on Impish Idea reading some articles about Eragon and Star Wars when I was struck by a curious thought. I think that Saphira might be a completely superfluous character.

Paolini said in an interview that the point of his stories was the relationship between Eragon and Saphira.

It is? They barely talk. And when they do, it's Saphira acting really wise, or acting like a schoolgirl and Eragon being an idiot. If it was really abount their relationship, I'd like it. But... it isn't.
