it's only fear

I am tiiiired, oh my goodness - unwontedly and unwarrantedly so, really. But I do this thing where I wear myself out thinking of all that I need to do, mentally retreading my to-do list and bullet-pointing lots of anxiety under each item on it. It doesn't help that I tend to procrastinate more when I'm afraid, and there's very little I dislike more ( Read more... )

RE: 1, your subject line is right. It's only fear. Keep breathing, bb, I know you can do anything you want to and more. It just sucks majorly when you convince yourself you can't (I do this a lot too). *hugs*

What is this about Arthur originally being the antagonist? I want to hear about this!

Thanks for all those recs. I have a lot of reading to do.

Sorry, I should have linked the interview. Here's the longer quote (CN = Christopher Nolan, JN = Jonathan Nolan) if you don't feel like clicking through:

JN: Let's go back to the process of it. Ten years. What brought you back to the project ( ... )

a post-Inception story about Mal, and I think it may be the only story I need from that fandom.

Thank you for the rec, (and all your recs, actually, they are always so excellent!) that story was incredible and I agree completely. Have been reluctant to get into the Inception fandom, as am missing the appeal of Arthur/Eames, but if there were more Mal-centric fics like that one, may seriously reconsider.

Aw, thank you!

I totally agree with you about Inception fandom; I didn't walk out shipping anyone very hard, and was initially surprised to find the Arthur/Eames explosion. I guess I understand why fandom latched onto that pairing, as much as it disappoints me that we're going for two white guys yet again.

It would definitely increase my interest in the fandom, too, to see more Mal-centric fic. I'd also love to read gen that plays with Nolan's world-building and develops other characters more fully, but I'm not sure there's a lot of that either.

This is exactly how I feel: where is the awesome ensemble gen/why the two white guys again, but have not been saying it, because the great majority of my flist is obsessed with Arthur/Eames. :/

the great majority of my flist is obsessed with Arthur/Eames. :/It's a difficult situation, isn't it? I certainly don't want to harsh anyone's squee, and I understand that many people aren't interested in the ~social justice~ part of fandom, just the escapism. In that case, Arthur/Eames probably works as a frame for cliches and kinks that have become a really ingrained part of slash fandom ( ... )

1. Oh man, that was a very interesting review. I've only listened to The Suburbs once so far, but I'll definitely keep the reviewer in mind when I listen again.

really did need it, after reading that Christopher Nolan originally intended the film's antagonist to be the partner (Arthur) but made it the wife (Mal) because "If you're going to do a massive movie, [...] you've got to be able to unlock that more universal experience for yourself as well as for the audience.
I ROLLED MY EYES SO HARD. Wtf, Chris Nolan?

Right? I might see if there are any interviews with the frontman that discuss his perspective on the album. That review made me curious to know how he feels about it, and about his fans.

Wtf, Chris Nolan is RIGHT. The only way a dead wife is a "universal experience" is if someone's watching his entire film catalogue.
