Being hopelessly out of the LiveJournal circle jerk loop means I occasionally receive e-mails from people pointing out new things, rather than just interrogating me about some remark or other that I made on an entry upwards of thirteen months ago. ("Don't cite your appalling memory at me - justify yourself!")*
Falling into that camp comprised of people who believe that travel, far from broadening the mind, merely reinforces the prejudices one holds dear, and should therefore be avoided as much as possible in middle-age, it's not difficult to smile indulgently at all the bitter twaddle and hoo-hah on display in the commentary here:

For the record, since John Harvard was a God-bothering upstart nobody, taking any U.S.-based higher education establishment seriously requires a terrific leap of faith. (And I've got a bad back, so forget it.)
