Balticon & stuff...

Well, just got the grades posted for the other class!  It is done!  I was worried about the amount of time left in the universe to complete it, but somehow managed to finish it all late Friday night/early Saturday a.m. (with help from doubleplus on the math).

Of course, I didn't send the grades into the college's internet void until tonight, so that I could double check some stuff when my brain was not so tired.

We went to Balticon for the day on Saturday. We went to a number of interesting science panels, went though the dealer's room with money intact, saw many friends (and had some actual conversations with some of them...) and went through the art show with HMGS.

I think I figured out why the con hadn't contacted me about being a guest this year - when I registered for some really strange reason they had my work address down as my home address (which is very odd), and they probably had the general museum email and not my personal one listed, so anything they sent got lost in the universe.

Which is rather annoying as I have been attending the convention since 1980 and I have been at this postal address since '93.

Oh well.  Not doing programming meant I could be on my own schedule.  I would attend the convention, no matter what.

We did not do the massive dinner crowd on Saturday night, which was fine, but went out for a quieter dinner with two friends.  Little did I know I would suffer later for it.

On Saturday night we had really, really hoped to get together with vortexofchaos and Jules & Jordon (as Jeff & Jord were back down to help Jules get the rest of her stuff back to MA).  Jules was too tired to get together, but we did get some quality time with vortexofchaos and Jordan, so that was very cool.  Waa - I want to be able to see Jules and Jeff each week!  I could so get use to that!

Hung out in the con suite during/after the Maquerade (unless its a Worldcon or a friend is in it, I am usually not that into costuming for the sake of costuming...)

We headed home by midnight.  Alas, I left my stomach north of Baltimore.  As we were driving home I started to feel ill.  It is not food poisoning, but after we got home I got really, really sick to my stomach last night and I spent today sleeping, vegging in front of the t.v. and generally getting nothing done because I just felt really vile.  Bleh.  The worst of it was over by this evening.

So much for getting ready for this week.  Knock wood tomorrow will be more productive.

balticon, conventions, friends
