Hey! I've been groping along with my writing this week, being a very bad updater. Somewhere is a piece of paper where I jotted down my tea units, though. *rummages* Whatever, back on the horse I go.
Part of the reason I wasn't good at updating this week is that I had another project, which is now done and has been passed along to a small person who is hopefully gumming it to death as we speak. It izza monster!
Monster!
I made a lot of this monster while watching the first two BBC Sherlock episodes. I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but when I make things while watching a TV show or movie, they start to mingle together in my head. I look at him and I'm like, those cute antennae! Watson was tied to a chair then!
I'm probably the only person on Earth who now associates Benedict Cumberbatch with soft fuzzy sweater monsters.
As often happens with fuzzy things, he started to have a personality before he has even done. By the time I embroidered his face I kind of wanted to keep him.
When I gave him to the recipient, a very cute one-year-old, he immediately glomphed onto it, which was gratifying. (The parents seemed kind of glomphy too, actually.) Bye, monster! I know you're in a good home where you'll be chewed on affectionately!
Making-of-monster notes: He took almost an entire ball of Lopi Icelandic wool, plus some shetland wool and mohair for his sweater. I made up the pattern as I went, but now that I have the bugs out, the next time I'll write it down. His little arms looked kind of, um, phallic? I had to stuff them very loosely, because when firmly stuffed the effect was kind of silly. My favorite part is probably the antler-tennae things, just because.
MiFu update for days 4-7, eep!
