There is cause for celebration (& unrelated fannishness)

Last night I completed the first draft of 80% of my thesis. Graduation in June: you are starting to seem physically possible! Of course, I still have to find a copy of a translation of a book that's out of print because my advisor can't read it in English (grrr) and the online shop lied and took my money and said it had it (double grrr) but there's a guy on e-bay who has an overpriced copy, so... yeah, still celebrating!

In this vein, have some LOLarious twitter quotes of awesome. I saved these on my desktop ages ago because I wanted to share them (and I couldn't work out how to save the url, so I just copy/paste) but they are still as funny as when I first read them. Thus:

Stephen Fry: Went thru the Austrian town of Hard. There was a scultpure of Gollum on a banana. No time stop for photo. Gollum on a banana. I mean, what?

A fan (can't remember who): Cas is a little bit like a nice version of the statues in blink. you blink, and he’s ten feet closer to Dean, staring.

Link to a fan-comic that's really funny and rather well drawn, of ye olde trope, Character finds fanfic, this time Cas discovers slash.

From the secret angels exchange! Below Skyscrapers, a 32k+ R rated Dean/Cas AU that, as my comment on the first part can attest, makes me crave an entire book series based on this AU, and I don't usually even go much for AUs, that's how brilliant this is. I have a feeling I know who wrote it *stares suspiciously at flist* but I dunno, is it kosher to guess with these things?

Anyway, the day I found it I was thinking "gee, I'd like a fic where Victor and Dean are working together", and lo and behold, The Internet granted my wish! It's a cop AU where those two are detectives and the supernatural is everyday business- and the angels are around. My only grievance is that the last part seems a little rushed (32k+ people! I'm insatiable) and I didn't want it to end. If YA novels stop slumming in with the vampires and head this way, I'm going to be very happy. :-D

Well, color me suprised, Crowley lived! Supposedly, he'll live to be in the next episode, since he's pretty much put himself on the Team, but we'll see. Mark Sheppard can come and hang out on my screen every time he damn pleases, so there are no complains from me, only I don't want to get too attached (my heart! it will never lurve again!); I am heartened by the fact that Crowley clearly looks out for himself very well. Oh, who knows.

That little ending scene with Bobby totally Kripked this WIP I had (that wasn't really coming out in any satisfactory way, so whatever) about Crowley showing up at Bobby's house, helping Team Free Will (but mostly him and Cas glowering at each other and trying to kill each other by instinct ever time they come near, until the humans find them practically sitting in each other lap because it helps them remind themselves they shouldn't kill each other, and what is up with the humans finding that strange?). On the side Crowley was going to  offer Bobby a deal to get his legs back- rationale being that Team is sadly lacking in capable people already, what with their stars being two morons, and Crowley still being a bastard of a crossroads demon who wouldn't mind reaping a soul while he's saving the world.

I'm not entirely sure why Sam achieving revenge for Jess in a cold, freaky calm way is an improvement over him hulking out and killing the demon. I'm going to hazard that the American vengeance=justice notion played into it, but IMHO Dean (or Crowley, why not?) should have done the deed, and that would have been a big leap forward. Baby steps?

So, huh... where's Castiel? Getting ready for season 6, right? *frets*
