Weekend adventures

Himself and I went to the Home Show yesterday. We used to go often after we bought the house, but it's been a long time since the last time. We enjoyed seeing all the exhibits and talked to people about kitchen counter tops, cabinet renovation, etc. I really would like to upgrade my kitchen. It's all 20 years old, although I did pull off the horrible 80s floral wallpaper and paint about 8 years ago. We've been in the house 12 years come November, amazing where the time goes. We also need a new water heater, it's also 20 years old and waaaay past its normal life expectancy, so I guess it has to have priority over just cosmetic changes.

Today's adventure was the baptism during Mass of our friends Mike and Sara's baby daughter Annabel. I feel like she's my namesake (despite the different spelling), but of course people I know in RL don't know me as Annabelle. She is very cute, about 5 months old already. There's that time thing again. At baptisms I always remember my one turn at being a godmother, to my sister's son who is now 25 years old. Time, time, time, where does it go? Afterward, some other friends of the family hosted a very nice brunch at their home. Mike and Sara had evited widely, and over 40 people were at the party! It was very nice, and the food and coffee were very good.

No doubt Annabel will soon be joining the little kids (about ages 3-8) at church who go around the sanctuary every week after Mass and collect hymnals from everyone to take back to the rack in the atrium. They seem to have an informal competition to see who can get the most and collect as many as they can carry, stacked up to their chins! One family has 4 little girls, the oldest is 8, and they all jump up to get the books, even the littlest one is now in the game! I don't know if you can call a cute smile a strong arm technique, but woe betide the adult who doesn't want to hand over that hymnal! There have only been a few crashes, but no harm done as people pick up the fallen books and pile them back on to the eager if hapless hymnal brigade member who dropped them!

College football report: Notre Dame won (and QB finally got that hair cut I've been mentally urging on him for weeks). Carolina won. Duke won(?!) NCState lost horribly.
