It's soupy out there. Chunky frozen soup. When I walked under trees or awnings big drips of melted snow (aka water) splattered on my head. I'd neglected to bring my hat. Eventually as I approached a tree or awning, I'd ask for no drips to land on me, at least no big ones that land on top of my head and trickle down my neck or forehead under my hair--such a weird sensation--and it actually seemed to work.
You still can't see actual asphalt, but there is a thick coat of dark gray icy sludge over the roads. Makes for an adventure when crossing the street. Over the sidewalks I was presented with a variety of landscapes to make my way through. Either a thick layer of packed down, dense, slightly melted but still solid snow and ice mixture which was easy to walk over, a slippery mess of loose squishy snow which is best walked over sloowwwwly, or, rarely, clear wet pavement in front of the few stores or apartment complexes that bothered to shovel, which is easy to walk over, but kind of messy because it's so wet.
It was nice to get out of the apartment for a little bit, but I don't think I'll be venturing out again unless I decide to go over to Steph's tomorrow for xmas dinner.
