Predators
Surprisingly good, though I realize my tastes are questionable as I have a love for bad sci-fi. But I think it makes for a decent entry in the genre. It hinged more on tension than on gore, which I prefer. Adrien Brody is an unexpected casting choice, but he was decent. Though, honestly, he was kinda hilarious, too, because he dropped his voice a whole octave to be more Action Man, and I couldn't stop thinking of Simon Pegg in Hot Fuzz. Simon Pegg's lower voice was pretty hot, tbh, but Adrien Brody was just funny, because this is what Simon Pegg was mocking. BUT, he was effective enough, though I wish he hadn't narrated everything. Thanks, Exposition Man.
I just can't tell if I like Alice Braga or not. This makes for the third movie I've seen her in, and I just don't know. I think it's fabulous to have a Latin actress in these summer action blockbusters who isn't... stereotypical? The Michelle Rodriguez brand of toughass. Alice Braga makes for a quieter, subtler approach, but at the same time, it comes off as sedated more than anything. She doesn't... captivate me. Which is a shame.
