[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Apparently so!
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No. I have no interest regardless of the legality. Working in healthcare I've seen the effects of Meth, and it ain't pretty.
[03] Abortion: for or against it? Pro-life or pro-choice?
Very much pro-choice.
[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
No. I'm not sure how anyone can make this arguement since many countries have thrived under female leadership. I don't think gender has anything to do with the ability to lead.
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
I'm torn. I don't believe in the death penalty the way that it exists currently. I think that the decision to put a human (regardless of how undesirable they may be) to death should be left to the families of the victims.
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes. Especially during these times of immense economic hardships. Having marijuana legalized would offer a new US product for taxation and exportation. I also agree with
ferrell that it is dangerous to the youth of the nation to place marijuana in the same category as heroin and cocaine, as it can diminish the fear of those drugs.
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I don't think the marital status of two individuals should have anything to do with their relations.
[08] Do you believe in God?
Yes. I don't know that God exists in the sense that organized religion portrays, but I do believe there is a higher power that has created life and could just as swiftly take it away. If that was a speck of dust as described in the big bang so be it. A speck of 'dust' could be a microorganism that infects the planet and kills us all... just as devastating as any apocolypse.
[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Again, I have to say I agree with
ferrell . I think that "marriage" should be left up to the churches performing the services, but that all adults, regardless of gender should be allowed to legally join in a union with each other.
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
I think that the immigration issue is a symptom of greater problems. I think that the US should take more of consideration in the well being of the Mexican nation. This isn't to say that I think we should offer handouts, but for every immigrant that is here there is a reason. Often times that reason is that there are no jobs or no decent wages in Mexico. US companies have offices working in Mexico *because* they can pay next to nothing. The immigrants come to the US and are paid low wages under the table by just as shady companies. The difference is now they are in the US and as such are eligible to receive healthcare at public facilities and resources. The companies that are paying the immigrant workers under the table should be dealth with and the companies that are outsourcing work should be taxed for taking those jobs away from US workers. I also believe that we should rid income tax and instead offer a federal tax on all goods. All persons, immigrant or not, have to buy things when in this country. A flat federal tax on goods would ensure that the immigrant population was contributing just as much as Americans. All current US residing immigrants should apply for citizenship if they choose to stay after regulations are put in place to address the underlying cause.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
I think that would depend on the child and her family.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Another one that I'm torn on. Alcohol, for all of its fun, is a dangerous substance. I, myself, have matured a lot since 18 and will continue to as I age. I think that anyone who can die in a war should have the right to down whatever substance they want, but I don't know that 18 year olds have the self control to consume safely and in moderation. If I were voting on the issue I would say yes, increase the age... but perhaps with a % alcohol limit.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
I think that we should strive to pull the troops out leaving a command similiar to those that we have in countries all around the world. I don't think this can be done over night, but I think that it can be accomplished quickly and efficiently.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
I think that it should be the right of the individual and only when all medical options for a comfortable quality of life have been exhausted.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Yes. I don't personally, because it isn't an effective punishment method for my son, but I have. I think that any choice of violence should be used with great reservation, whether it be against and adult or a child. I don't think someone who spanks their child is committing child abuse, but I also think that inflicting pain is often a punishment that doesn't "fit the crime".
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Sure. Burning a flag does not immediately mean that you are unpatriotic. I think it would be the intent behind the burning. In my case it would be because I'm broke.
[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Obama.
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Nah.
