went to new orleans for christmas and here is what hit me the hardest
i lived on a street called fairfax, fairfax was odd because you could drive from one end of the street to the other and never have your car hit a patch of sunlight, in fact, it was SO dark on the street people would put on their lights to see. because fairfax had huge gigantic trees. The one in OUR backyard was so large that it would take 3 people holding hands to fit around it. most of the trees are still there, only 2 were uprooted, but we drove down fairfax and our car was in the sunlight the entire way, our tree used to stand about 75 feet tall, and now it sits at 30. all of the branches, gone...and they dont know if the tree will survive because of the salt water all over the soil. new orleans is a corpse. And no amount of rebuilding will change that, because everything is dead, people should not move back, and i should forget that house that i had on fairfax, the house that stands one brick high now...
