People are stupid and I hate them.
More specifically, I hate the friend who just called me to tell me he saw a 60 Minutes special on TV, and decided that taking
Adderall to study for his Spanish test is a good idea. Because, you know, there's no possible way that he'll get hooked on this thing or that it could be bad for his health, since because anyone can go to the doctor and claim ADHD, it might as well be over the counter. And then after about fifteen minutes of me telling him that he shouldn't do this, and what he had was a bullshit excuse, he goes 'I respect your opinion, but you're acting like those people who were against marijuana when it first came out'.
Because, you know, this is totally the same thing.
When I told him his was a bullshit excuse, if there was even an excuse at all, he rambled on about how most kids in college do it, and in the major that I'm going into, physics, like half the kids in my class will be on it!
He finally hung up, then called me again later to confirm school stuff for tomorrow. Then he said that as it turned out, what he'd seen in his house wasn't a bottle of adderall, but he was gonna keep looking. And if it wasn't in his house, he was going to find some way to get a hold of it before the end of the week. Then he went on to talk about how I couldn't possibly understand what this was like for him, since I didn't know what it was like to not get things on the level he did. And when I brought up math, which I am godawful at, he went on to say that it wasn't the same thing at all! Math is something you get after a while, Spanish is a completely different language which he doesn't get, and he has trouble with all these things...
I basically told him to do whatever the hell he wanted and hung up. And now I feel crappy for having even had this conversation. Fuck people, man. Just...ugh.
