So, we all know that everyone has some yin and some yang to them, some more than others. I'm wondering what my ratio is again. It's been a while since I've played the genderfuck game.
Here's another thing. So, I like the feminine look: long hair, graceful features and movements, nice make-up, pretty clothes, all that shebang. I've got the hair down and a bit of the grace. But when I put on the make-up and the clothes, am I just playing the fool? Does it depend on the venue? For example, around the colorguard girls (mostly straight girls), a lot of them reacted with "um .. wtf, Andy" when I got all chicked up; with the queer folk, they're all about it; and with whatever people, sometimes people don't even notice the makeup, sometimes people think I'm a girl at once, sometimes people are a bit repulsed, a whole variety of reactions depending on how much I'm dressed up and how much I reveal. Is it a matter of degree and how well I do the makeup, if it's the natural & enhancy look rather than the goth trash look, that'll gander a positive reaction?
Out here in the woods, it's an interesting culture. We have a mix of folk, some straight; some allies; some queer; some totally clueless about sex, gender, and sexuality; etc. The sense I get is that, while a minority of people would be cool with me screwing around my gender image and presentation (more than the general populace of the nation, less than my crowd in college), it's more acceptable to explore my masculinity out hre. At the same time, I wonder how much femininity is naturally showing through.
That said, I do have a long-standing ideological dispute with the binary division/two-ended spectrum of gender, but it's an ingrained habit from which I don't see too much of an out.
Hmm.
