Ow!

Need more proof that I'm 80? Here it is. I hurt my back at work today while I was decorating a Christmas tree. I wasn't even twisting or kneeling to stand or anything, I was just bent over a wee bit to place some lights and when I tried to stand I felt a sort of snap in my lower back. I cried out in pain and fell to a squatting position and my eyes ( Read more... )

It is a muscle in my lower back. My co-workers say they know my back is broken because I have a crack. Stupid, but it made me laugh, which made me hurt more.
I sleep ok, the muscle relaxers make me tired, not that I need help feeling sleepy. I love heat on my back, it feels so good. Being cold makes me shiver and that makes me hurt, so I try to stay away from ice. It does feel good too, but I like heat better.
I know what you mean by every other muscle in your body being tied to the back muscle. Stupid back pain. I'm just ready to be healed now. I hate feeling weak and like a sissy. I hate that I have to do everything slowly, and that I walk like a gimp. I'm tired of being in pain and it's only been three days.
My company has Christmas decorations because that's part of my job as Activities Director. Now the blasted tree in the front lobby is still naked because I can't finish it. Luckily the lady who I replaced is willing to come in to help me finish up.
I look forward to the day when I can use the stairs again. I feel myself getting fatter by only using the elevator and walking slowly everywhere I go.
Boo Hoo. I'll stop whining now.
Thanks for your sympathy. x)

So, you threw your back out, eh. Maybe you'll end up being one of those people that don't get well for like a year, or maybe you'll never get any better. I threw my back out one time. I couldn't even stand up straight. It happened at work about half way through my day. It hurt to talk because my voice would vibrate my back in a bad way. But, when I got of work I had to go to the mall because Civilization 3 was on sale, so I hobbled through the mall bent half over. Honestly, it took me about an hour just to walk about 100 feet to the store and then back to my car. When I got home I souped myself up on these pain killers that I got from the dentist awhile back. It took me forever to stay asleep because I stop breathing when I'm on pain killers so my body wakes itself up. Then I start having these crazy dreams that I can never remeber good enough to tell anybody about. Anyways, I woke up the next day and the pain was gone. THe point is. . . squat, don't bend. The legs are a very powerful force. . . trust in the force. Sorry you hurt your back. Get well soon, grandma. :)
